Women more likely to cheat on their partners than men

And you thought men do all the "goofing around" when the topic of long-term relationships arises – a new shocking UK poll has found that women are more likely to cheat on their partners than men.

Four out of 10 admitted they had been unfaithful compared to just three out of 10 men, the surprising study found.

The poll of 3,000 adults discovered that two fifths of cheats ended up kissing someone while out clubbing while almost one in four cheated with a colleague at a work event.

Fifty five per cent of the ladies confessed that they loved attention from men – and more than a third said men often get the wrong idea because they were so flirtatious.

More than a third also claim their ''''minor indiscretion'''' happened by accident because their flirting got out of hand.

The study was conducted by Opera North to open their new season with the Mozart opera Cosi fan tutte, translated as ''''All Women Are Like That'''' – a light-hearted comedy that looks at the very nature of infidelity, reports The Daily Express.

More than one in 10 women say they will never be completely monogamous in a relationship because life is too short.

A fifth of women admit they get a thrill from cheating on their partner, and despite knowing it is wrong want to do it again.

The poll also showed one in four women find complete strangers attractive and love the thrill of chasing them on a night out.

A further one in four said they could not resist the temptation of a man in uniform.

Sex without Condom is good for mental health

Having sex without using condom is good for mental health, according to a new study.

Professor Stuart Brody, of the West of Scotland University, Paisley, and his colleagues conducted the study and found that unprotected heterosexual sex can significantly boost men and women''s mental wellbeing.

On the other hand, heterosexual sex with a condom is linked to poorer mental health, the study showed.

According to Brody, mankind is biologically programmed to enjoy unprotected sex because it gives couples an evolutionary advantage and maximises the chances of reproducing.

"Evolution is not politically correct, so of the very broad range of potential sexual behaviour, there is actually only one that is consistently associated with better physical and mental health and that is the one sexual behaviour that would be favoured by evolution. That is not accidental," the Scotsman quoted Brody as saying.

The researchers studied the sexual behaviour of 99 women and 111 men in Portugal.

They filled in questionnaires about the pleasure they derived from their sex lives and contraception use.

Using a measure of psychological health developed in Canada, Brody concluded that condom use was linked to members of the sample who exhibited problems dealing with stress.

He found that those who had unprotected sex appeared to be able to deal with stress in a more mature way by taking effective action. They also had better mental health.

However, his conclusions have been criticised by sexual health campaigners, who warned that unsafe sex leads to unwanted pregnancies and diseases.

Tony Kerridge of Marie Stopes International, the leading sexual health and reproductive health organisation, said: "I would have thought that the mental health of anyone would be tested if they found out they had a sexually transmitted disease or that there was an unwanted pregnancy.

"Particularly in the case of casual relationships where there is no desire to get pregnant, advice should always be that condoms should be used," Kerridge added.

The study has been published in the academic journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour.

Want more sex? Do the dishes!

Want children who think you’re their hero and also have a healthy sex life? Simple: pick up after yourself, do doggy-do patrol and leave the toilet seat down.

Like many scientific studies, this seems logical enough: if your partner does all the cleaning up while you drink beer in front of the TV, she’s less likely feel amorous than if your share the load.
But a new study has found that women aren’t merely more accommodating of the advances of men who help them – they actually find them more attractive.

If Dad helps, so do the children
What’s more, children of dads who do their fair share of the cleaning will help with housework themselves. And, says the study, these children are likely to grow up more socially aware and better adjusted. They’re also more likely to have friends and less likely to be depressed or withdrawn at school than their counterparts whose fathers don’t help out around the home.

Fathers who did a share of housework were also more likely to show affection towards their children.

The study, conducted by the University of California said that while many men today do more than their fathers and grandfathers did to keep the household going, they’re still doing less than women.

Many women work the same hours that their husbands do, but shoulder more of the load of looking after children and running the household.

Sportsmen not so sporty with household chores
One warning: the study, which examined more than 3 500 children and their parents, found that fathers who were heavily involved in sports were less likely to spend time helping with housework.

The lesson? Unless it’s a major event, watch the highlights, rather than the whole event. One researcher noted that because fewer men do housework than women, the actions of those that do help have more of an impact on their children. The youngsters are likely to learn the value and viability of “cooperative family partnerships”. In other words, they might learn to pick up after themselves.

And of course, when women feel less stressed about being unfairly burdened with the workload, they’re more willing to channel any surplus energy and goodwill into carnal pleasure – not least because they regard a helping hand as manifestation of love.

So by all means buy her the drop-dead negligee, chocolate body paint and long-stemmed roses. But you increase your chances of one-to-one harmony by taking out the trash.

Wolf-whistles the way to woo a Woman!

Planning to woo a girl? Well, then here's a pointer for you: eight out of 10 women love men paying them compliments – even if they are strangers.

That's the conclusion of a new UK study, which found that up to half women are secretly pleased if they get wolf-whistles from builders or if a man in a car toots his horn at them.

However, three out of four men would not dream of complimenting a stranger or colleague for fear of being thought a pervert, creepy or that they are "coming on to" the woman, the survey has found.

Market researchers www.OnePoll.com said: "It is a sign of the times that men can't do or say anything without feeling it will be taken the wrong way."

The study found that 80percent women like it when male colleagues appreciate their appearance, especially if he is single, good-looking or the boss, reports The Daily Express.

Ninety-six per cent of girls love compliments from their partner, though nearly half respond with a wisecrack like "love is blind".

Exercise can improve insulin sensitivity

New York: A moderate aerobic exercise program alone—without weight loss—has been found to improve insulin sensitivity in both lean and obese sedentary adolescents, as part of a new study.

Accepted for publication in The Endocrine Society's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM), a report on the study highlights the fact that insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas that permits glucose to enter cells to be used for energy or stored for future use by the body.

To maintain normal blood sugar levels in obese adolescents, given that they are resistant to insulin, their bodies have to increase the production of insulin.

However, increasing insulin production places higher demands on the pancreas, and thus can exhaust pancreatic beta cells to the point that they no longer produce sufficient amounts of insulin to keep blood sugar levels normal, which might subsequently lead to type 2 diabetes.

"Because weight loss can be difficult to achieve and maintain in obese sedentary children, the purpose of this study was to determine whether a controlled exercise program, without any diet
intervention and with no intention of weight loss, would improve fat distribution and sensitivity to insulin," said Dr. Agneta Sunehag, of Baylor College of Medicine and senior author of the study.

"We found that a 12-week moderate aerobic exercise program consisting of four 30-minute workouts a week increased fitness and improved insulin sensitivity in both lean and obese adolescents," Sunehag added.

During the study, 29 adolescents—14 lean and 15 obese—completed the 12-week moderate aerobic exercise program.

The exercise sessions required the subjects to work out on a treadmill, elliptical or bicycle.

The goal of each exercise session was to get the participants'' heart rate to increase to at least 70 percent of their maximum capacity.

The researchers measured the subjects’ glucose and insulin concentrations both before and after the exercise program.

Cardiovascular fitness was determined using an oxygen consumption test which consists of measuring oxygen uptake of the participant during a treadmill exercise where speed and incline is increased every three minutes until the subject reaches his maximum exercise capacity.

"Many studies include both diet and exercise interventions, which makes it difficult to determine which intervention is most effective and best accepted by adolescents. Our findings show that exercise alone can increase fitness and improve insulin sensitivity, making an aerobic program like the one used in this study a potential useful tool in preventing obesity-related illnesses," said Sunehag.

New therapy to prevent heart failure

A new study has found that cardiac resynchronization device combined with the defibrillator (CRT-D) can significantly reduce death risk and heart failure in cardiac patients.

The researchers found that patients who had a cardiac resynchronization had a 34 percent reduction in their risk of death or heart failure.

The overall benefit observed from resynchronization therapy was driven by a 41 percent reduction in heart failure.

Women who received CRT-D had an "astonishing" 63 percent reduction in their risk of heart failure.

A 2002 study led by Dr Arthur Moss, professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Centre, and the MADIT (Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Implantation Trial) research group showed that an implanted defibrillator, or ICD, reduced the risk of death by 31 percent in cardiac patients.

However, other studies showed that although ICDs are effective at preventing sudden death, the patients were subsequently at increased risk for heart failure.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is currently approved for treatment only for patients with symptoms of severe heart

In the current MADIT-CRT trial, Moss sought to determine if preventive CRT-D therapy, the combination of an ICD with CRT, could reduce the risk of mortality and heart failure in patients with mild cardiac disease.

"The findings from MADIT-CRT show that CRT-D effectively reduces the risk of heart failure," the New England Medical Journal quoted Moss as saying.

"There is a very large population of patients with heart disease whom we believe will benefit from CRT-D therapy," he added.

Love boosts creativity!

Love is not only blind, it is creative also! Atleast researchers think so.

The lovestruck enjoy a surge in creative powers while those who are merely randy are sharper logicians, a new study finds.

Dutch researchers asked students to imagine either a romantic walk with a loved one or a one-night stand with a casual acquaintance before giving them a set of problems involving either creative thinking or logic, Miller-McCune reports.

On problems calling for creative thinking, the group with romance in mind outperformed both the lustful and a control group asked to imagine themselves a solitary stroll, while the reverse was true for the logic puzzles. The results, researchers say, demonstrate that people "process information in two fundamentally different ways: They focus on the forest, or they focus on the trees." The romantic were looking at the long-term picture, they say, while those with sex on the brain were more suited to pursuing short-term goals—such as "specific

Saudis increasingly having sex

. Wednesday, September 2, 2009

The conservative Saudis are increasingly availing misyar, a no-strings marriage of convenience focused primarily on sexual relations, say reports.

Misyar allows couples to live separately, but come together for sexual relations.

It deprives women of almost all the rights that a normal marriage would entitle them to, but offers men an "opportunity for a bit of fun on the side, in secret, and at a huge discount."

Misyar''s rising popularity also owes to the high cost of marriage in Saudi Arabia, as dowry, dinners, parties, decorating a flat and the honeymoon, set the groom back several hundred thousand riyals.

"Misyar for cash-strapped men is a boon," the Daily Times quoted the UK daily Guardian as reporting.

A Saudi, cited by the report, claimed that he entered several misyar marriages after his first normal marriage fell apart.

He said none lasted for more than six months and said the marriages had not been as cost effective as he had hoped, irrespective of the fact that he was hoping to find a compatible partner for a permanent relationship.
He said that misyar wives were "crafty and inclined to extract money and gifts".

"Thanks to Bluetooth technology, friendly websites and an abundance of furnished apartments in major cities like Riyadh and Jeddah, there are tales of misyar wives who have clandestinely entered into more than one misyar contract," the paper said.

"These enlightened ladies say misyar husbands never tell their full-time wives about their relationships so why can''t misyar wives have similar arrangements?" it stated.

Internet ads for misyar marriages often reveal the desperation of those looking for partners, with some only demanding a woman with the "ability to satisfy the needs of a man who desires things permitted by religion."

"Misyar is popular in the kingdom because in a society where extramarital and premarital sex is a cardinal sin it legitimises sexual relations outside the framework of conventional marriage," the report added.

The Egyptian Centre for Women''s Rights says that misyar is an insult to both men and women and a sanction for the trafficking of women.

Sexercise' for that Slim figure

. Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Forget treadmills, long walks and Atkins diet, an expert has come up with a new way of staying in shape-and it has nothing to do with cutting out Indulge in plenty of sex on carbs - it's indulging in plenty of sex.

Yes, you heard it right, "sexercise" makes a person slimmer - if you do enough of it. Combining sex and fitness is like killing two birds with one stone. Sex gets you fit. And being fit makes you want to have more sex. This is, in large part, because of all of the benefits a good sexercise routine offers, like: improved blood flow in strengthening your heart, better cholesterol, changing more of your bad cholesterol (LDL) to good cholesterol (HDL), weight control, better sleep and greater energy, including longer life and a better quality of life.

According to Fox News, women, in particular, feel more attractive with sexual fitness, since they produce more estrogen. This makes for shinier, smoother hair. Both sexes glow as their skin pores become cleansed, thanks to sweating. They feel sexier than ever. But how do you start this sexercise routine? Well, sex educator Dr.Yvonne Kristín Fulbright has come to your rescue.

Get a physical if you haven't in a while . While it may be laughable to do this, you're going to be physically active, accelerating your heart rate, pulse, and blood pressure. You're also going to be testing and developing your strength, stamina, and flexibility. As with any form of exercise, you need to make sure that you're good to go. Aim for half-hour romps 3-5 times a week. This may seem like a lot, but this is actually not very time-consuming. Consider the amount of time you put into your favorite TV show.

Remind yourself of the rewards. Sex for 30 minutes burns anywhere from 15-350 calories, depending on how physically active you are. This is the equivalent of calories burned during a half an hour of brisk walking, running, or lifting weights. Vigorous or longer sex sessions five times per week can burn up to 1,650 calories! The active partner - typically the one on top - tends to burn more.

Don't lose focus. You can easily get distracted with all of sex's delights. But your goal is to make it burn. In a matter of weeks, you can notice improvements in the tone and strength of your stomach, back, buttocks, legs and arms.

Aim for variety. Your sexercise routine doesn't have to be routine. You can't take it for granted that sexercising won't be boring, at least not in the same way as your treadmill. So get creative.

Watch what you eat . Also maintain moderate exercise out of the bedroom. Take care of each other post-workout. After working up a good sweat, you'll have to hit the shower.
