72-yr-old held on Rape charge

A 72-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 20-year-old domestic help in West Delhi area.

Police arrested Thakur Das, a whole-sale fruits dealer in Azadpur vegetables and fruits market on Saturday. Thakur had engaged the girl as a domestic help in his house for the last six years.

The incident was reported on May 14 but the accused could only be arrested on Saturday after the victim disclosed his name. The girl hails from Jharkhand, police said.

She was admitted in MGS hospital in mysterious circumstance and police were reported about the incident by hospital authorities.

In the medical examination, it was found that she was raped and a case was lodged at Punjabi Bagh police station.

The crime was committed on May 14 when Thakur and the girl were alone in the house. Thakur allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she spills the beans. As her condition deteriorated, Thakur's family took her to hospital and got her admitted.

She was under fear and did not blame Thakur initially but yesterday she said she was raped by him.
