Use any Bank’s ATM to Withdraw Money Totally Free!

. Friday, April 17, 2009

Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) asked all Indian Banks (private & Government) not to charge customers for using other bank’s ATM. May it be balance inquiry or cash withdrawal, they can’t charge customers any money. Earlier few banks were charging up to Rs. 200 for cash withdrawal using any other bank’s ATM card and later all banks started charging Rs. 20 for this. Finally from April 2009, this service became free all over India and now you can make balance inquiries or withdraw cash for free.

Atm cash withdrawal became free with all banks in India

RBI advised Banks not to charge anything for the following purposes :

  • Using own bank’s ATM for any purpose
  • Using other bank’s ATM for balance inquiry
  • Using other bank’s ATM to withdraw money
If you have been charged any amount for these services after April 1st, 2009, you can contact the respective banks to get back your money. This will specially help those people who are having their own bank ATMs located far and other bank’s ATM just beside their home. This is indeed a great move by Reserve Bank Of India and you can read their notice here.
